On The Sly Again

He's at it again.

Sylvester Stallone supports assault weapons ban

No big surprise. Stallone supported the first "assault weapons" ban and has made several anti gun owner statements over the decades. But let's debunk his money quote for this news cycle...

"I know people get (upset) and go, 'They're going to take away the assault weapon.' Who ... needs an assault weapon? Like really, unless you're carrying out an assault. ... You can't hunt with it. ... Who's going to attack your house, a (expletive) army?"

Le sigh with a twist of vermouth.

Who "needs" an "assault weapon'? Well, this teenager. And this good fellow. And this good fellow. And these good fellows.

You can't hunt with an "assault weapon"? Bullshit. While I think the typical cartridge the AR-15 uses is a little light for deer (though opinions vary) it's a decent round for varmints up to coyotes. The AK-47 and SKS use a round that's only slightly less powerful than the venerated .30-30 Winchester so they're good for deer to about 100 yards or so, and the FAL, M1A and other semi-automatic rifles chambered for the .308 Winchester (or its near but not exact military equivalent the 7.62x51mm) are great deer rifles.

"Who's going to attack your house, a (expletive) army?"

The Branch Davidians were unavailable for comment. (Although Randy Weaver will be glad to tell you of the dangers of being suspected of owing the feds $200)

But most folks don't have to worry about the full army treatment (unless there's been a hurricane. Also, see the video here as well as the video here.) Some folks have had to worry about fire team to small squad sized home invasions.

Stallone goes on to say that he thinks mental health is a bigger problem than firearms. If he would have just stuck to that I wouldn't have occasion to pick on him. But since he didn't...

The Hypocrisy of Sylvester Stallone (which contains copies of Stallone's application for a concealed carry permit in L.A.)

What do these Hollywood celebrities have in common with these dictators and murderers? (which includes a snail mail address for Stallone, as well as email addresses for other celebrities who support gun control - courtesy of the JPFO).

The press and anti gun owner groups (but I repeat myself) really like it when actors and musicians voice anti gun owner opinions. So expect to see more of this kind of thing.
