It's Up To You, New York

To ruin yet another peacable citizen's life with your outrageous enforcement of draconian gun possession laws, in clear violation of the protections afforded by the McLure-Volkmer act.

A nurse from Indiana named Joyce was visiting friends in Vermont and Massachusetts earlier this month when she ran into an unexpected problem. Upon checking in at the ticket counter in Albany, NY (the nearest major airport) for her return flight to Indiana, she declared her firearm, which was secured with a cable-lock through the barrel and magazine well and double-locked in a hard case. The NW Airlines ticket agent called over a Deputy Sheriff who asked Joyce several questions about the gun and her travels with it. He then asked her to accompany him to his office where he arrested and booked her for unlawful possession of a weapon without a NY license.
The Firearms Coalition is fundraising to assist this victim of the state with legal defense, etc.

Speaking of draconian. It's a good thing she wasn't going through Massachusetts.

When Mass., fist instituted strict gun control laws, there was a case where a national-guardsman was, under orders, transferring weapons from one location to another. He was arrested for not having a Mass., gun permit. The MANDITORY PENALTY for his infraction was 2 years in jail, no questions asked. Actually, I think he ended up getting out of it, but it must have had him pretty scared.

I no longer live in that liberal h***-hole, and hope I don't have to go back, whether they've canged that law, or not.
