I generally prefer carbon steel blades as opposed to stainless. Since quite a few of my blades have been gifts I own a lot of stainless blades which hopefully will prove to have one advantage - rust resistance.
Two heavy snows two weeks in a row followed by several light to medium snows over several weeks combined with temps barely above freezing at best will make for a nice base of the white stuff all around your house.
Putting one of your favorite blades in a coat with a previously unknown hole in one of the pockets while messing around the yard will result in said blade disappearing into a winter wonderland.
Perhaps in spring I'll find an unrusted blade around the yard?
