Paper Campaign Trail

I found this kinda of interesting...

"The presidential campaign strategy for former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani — complete with a $100 million fundraising target for this year — is out of the bag.
The 140-page schedule for the Republican's budding presidential bid was reported in Tuesday's editions of the New York Daily News."

...in a we-told-you-so kinda way:

"The document also predicts some $100 million could be spent against Giuliani to highlight political vulnerabilities like his three marriages and moderate stances on social issues including gun control and gay rights."

But it wouldn't take that much. Giuliani's "moderate" stance on gun control is something that a lot of bloggers have been talking about ever since his name was mentioned as a contender. McCain isn't much better so I can safely assume that the gun bloggers & pro-gun leaning bloggers wouldn't have much trouble pointing out the problems with Giuliani or McCain. or Romney for that matter.

"The newspaper said one page of the document cites the concern that Giuliani might 'drop out of (the) race' because of his potentially 'insurmountable' personal and political vulnerabilities."

We can only hope that if/when that happens McCain will drop out of the running as well as Romney.

I should add that the campaign strategy may mean Giuliani doesn't seem anti-gun enough to swing moderate dems over to him in the general election, but I see it being more damaging during the primary that he's too anti-gun. Course it all really depends on who he'll be running against in a primary or general election as to how much it'll hurt him. Through Di-fi up against him & most pro-gunners would hold their nose & pull the lever for him. But a Zell Miller type would be another story.
