Bashing Bloggers RMBB v. 5.0

Er, actually that should have read "Blogger's Bash". Specifically the Rocky Mountain Blogger Bash v. 5.0

& there's a short (yeah right) rant behind the "v. 5.0" qualifier:

Every RMBB that's been held that I've known about has been held in Denver; specifically in downtown Denver.

Downtown Denver is a parking nightmare. The meters are way too freakin’ high & when they're not charging they're not available. It's crowded as hell, especially on a weekend. If you cab it or venture on public transportation (be sure to have I.D. with ya in case the man wants to get all up in yo' house) it's tolerable, if you like cabs or warrantless probing...er I mean public transportation. Unfortunately you may not pack whilst riding a city bus or train. Hence mass transit just ain't my style.

Denver has a pit bull ban complete with government encouraged snitches & canine genocide. Also buried towards the bottom of this post of mine is my take on the pit bull murders going on there.

From my understanding Denver's city council is one of the big (if not the biggest) driving force behind the upcoming statewide smoking ban which may drive the business out of music in the bar scene as well as shut down quite a few bars. See since the majority of regulars at bars smoke, then odds are enough of them will be crank old bastards such as myself who'll opt to run by the liquor store & go home instead of going to a bar & drinking between smoke breaks when it's 20 degrees outside. Short version is the music scene suffers because bars don't have enough cash to pay them properly or pay them at all once the decreased business becomes a reality.

& let's not forget how I feel about Denver in general:

Warning: Denver Does Not Want Your Business

Denver Can Still Go To Hell.

Denver: Homicide Friendly But Gun Owner Adverse - Coincidence?

Denver Can Still Go To Hell (Again)

So I'm not thrilled about the RMBB v. 5.0 being held in that moral cesspool that should be replaced by an ocean or a decent sized swamp (I'd prefer an ocean but the swamp would be an improvement). & yes; I've voiced my objections every single time I could. I've even made alternate suggestions as there are many fine bars in the surrounding towns.

Last time the excuse for picking Denver's downtown was that it was "centrally located" which made for some interesting discussion of the word "central" since some bloggers were coming from Colorado Springs (about 90 miles south of Denver). In fact "centrally located, my ass!" was an oft bandied about phrase (at least by me).

So I noticed in the comments o fthe post giving the details of the bash that it was implied that the folks who chose to pick a parking unfriendly, smoker unfriendly, pet owner unfriendly & gun owner unfriendly location didn't like "v. 5.0" for some reason.

So RMBB v. 5.0 it is. It's not much, but especially when it comes to bitchiness, it's the thought that counts. :)

I'm with you 100%. I make it a policy of mine never to do business in Denver if I don't have to.
Suggestion: Hold RMBB 5.1 in some friendlier location. Sponsor it yourself.
Extra points for a place that has no TVs.

Dammit, I haven't made one yet, in spite of lofty promises. Denver is even farther out of the question for me than it ever was.

Make it Greeley, or Wellington, or hell, just a kegger in the ATF-forsaken mountains. Make that second "B" in "RMBB" stand for 'bonfire.'

Or Cheyenne. We reciprocate with CO CCWs. And NM's.

And roger that comment about No TVs. I can't carry on a conversation in a bar. Period.
