Instapundit points to an article about modern cancer research. On a related note I found this article about mixing Western & traditional Eastern medicines to treat cancer. An excerpt from the latter:
"Mok said some hospitals in China were using both traditional and Western medicines — herbs and chemotherapy, or acupuncture and modern diagnostic imaging, for example — but more needed to be done to integrate the methods."
& there's a theory that an aspiring a day can keep cancer away:
"The regular use of aspirin, but not other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), is associated with a reduced incidence of cancer and cancer-related death, particularly among former smokers and those who never smoked." (link in original)
