Stabbing In Mass School

"A 16-year-old student was charged with murder Friday in the fatal stabbing of a classmate at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, Middlesex District Attorney Gerard Leone said."

Didn't someone claim that gun free schools were safer? That no one would be seriously hurt if we'd just make sure those vile implements were illegal to possess on school grounds? Well I again beg to differ.

"Leone said a fight broke out early Friday between two male students in a school bathroom and spilled out into the hallway, where the stabbing took place."

No; armed teachers probably wouldn't have been able to prevent this. But it does show that it's the people not the implements that cause the harm. I'd assume that millions of kids have carried knives to school without resorting to stabbing anyone even during the course of a fight. Still look for folks to call for the vigorous banning of knives at schools over this one. Since this happened in Massachusetts I'd look for the state legislature to pass more anti-knife-in-school laws (I presume they already have some on the books).

You are truly an idiot. Guns should be illegal. There is no reason to have one other than to kill people

Jim, if someone comes into my home with a knife (or baseball bat, or chainsaw, or any number of lethal weapons any deranged lunatic with cash in his pocket can purchase at Wal-mart) and threatens my wife and daughters with it, I'm going to be damn glad to have a device handy that I can use to kill the scumbag to end the threat against my family's lives.

You're confusing criminal, predatory violence with violence perpetrated as a defensive measure.

Typical of an ill-informed, reality-deprived liberal twat such as yourself.

By the way, your post got quoted in the Boston Globe today.

Jim,
I won't argue that I'm not an idiot - too many ex-g/f's would back you up on that. :)

However you are mistaken on a few points:

Firearms have uses other than killing people (hunting, target shooting, etc)

You assume that killing people is always a bad thing. I'd argue that at times it's not merely morally ambiguous, but in some instances good as well as necessary & proper. For example let's say a serial killer broke into your home. Would not killing him in order to save your own life & the lives of your family be the proper thing to do? & wouldn't ending his murder spree be good for the community at large?

Firearms can be & are used to take human life. What you discount is that sometimes it's necessary to take one life in order to preserve another, or in some instances many others.

But no: guns should not be illegal. In fact we have too many restrictions concerning them already.

Bruce,
Thanks. I didn't notice that until you pointed it out (the boston globe link I mean). Now I almost wish I'd have turned it into a lengthier piece. :)

I notice Jim didn't bother to back up his remark, or leave an address. Just a drive-by idiotic troll slinging insults...
