Here's a perfect example of what I was refuting in my post The Root Of Homeland is Home. It's a statement from a retiring Republican congressman in an article from Pantagraph.com.
"And Hyde said that although he supports a person’s constitutional right to bear arms, he favors restricting assault weapons.
'The purpose of a gun, assault weapon, is to fire a lot of bullets in a hurry,' he said. 'I don’t see a hunter wanting to do that nor do I see someone protecting his home by having assault weapons.” (emphasis mine; idiocy in original)
So when you're faced with a threat to your safety in your home you want to fire few bullets in a very slow manner? Logic & facts shouldn't get in the way of a good first step in disarming the populace I guess so I doubt there'd be much use point out that pesky second amendment or the concept of Natural Law.
