Here's the vid by Weird Al Yankovich. & of course here are the lyrics. The song Amish Paradise is a parody of Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio who based in on the Stevie Wonder tune Pastime Paradise from his Songs in the Key of Life album.
Now that that's settled I really am not sure I am capable of believing this story:
"Police say two men armed with a .50 caliber muzzleloading rifle held up an Amish buggy driver and made off with a pipe, tobacco and flashlight."
It gets better though:
"Sheriff's deputies say 19-year-old Levi Hershberger was driving his buggy along County Route 15 when a car pulled alongside him and two men inside asked if he had any drugs. He said he didn't and they drove off, only to come back and ask him again for drugs.
When the two men returned a second time, they told Hershberger they were undercover state troopers, police said, reports the Watertown Daily Times.
Deputies say the men forced Hershberger out of the buggy at gunpoint and searched the vehicle. Later, when Hershberger got home, the men drove into his driveway and he ran to a neighbor's to call police while the men woke his father and again demanded drugs."
In my day the Amish were always the connection. They had the best deals on dime bags around & were the only place to go for sensamilla in the off season, which is why they could afford those fly buggies. / sarcasm
I mean damn. Hitting up Amish for drugs? That's like going to the ATFU for gunsmithing advice. In either case if you know anything about what you want you damn well know those types of folks cannot provide it for you.
Searched the buggy for drugs? When I was a musician I saw some pretty desperate people but no one in they cracked out mind would have thought that searching an Amish buggy would have led to a score.
& using a muzzleloader? Against the Amish? They're pacifists! A pointy stick would have worked just as friggin' well!
They caught the miscreants & they're now rethinking their lives in the county lock-up. But damn - stealing a pipe, tobacco & a flashlight from an Amish buggy at muzzle-loader point while looking for drugs? Just damn.
