It looks like a hearing to decide whether or not to give Mr. Maye a new trial will be held on February 27th. Still, take a look at the petition & sign if you're so inclined. Case law is great when it's on your side, but an unconditional pardon would be the quickest way to set Mr. Maye free.
Posted by Publicola at February 1, 2006 02:23 AM | TrackBackI am not a death penalty opponenet, but I am a rational thinking individual when it comes to situations that don't make any sense, and from everything I have read both for and against Mr. Maye, it astounds me that this man was convicted for this, hell, if I was in his shoes I would have done the same for my family. I think this whole thing stinks and needs to be reviewed by the State of Mississippi, what he did was not a crime, he was defending his family! I am a white, conservative Republican that works for the Federal Government and I firmly believe that this man needs to be pardoned immediately. Regards to you Mr. Maye.
