Compelling Reading

We've got a CCW law here in Ohio that allows people who complete a certain amount of training to carry a concealed firearm. 2 years ago it was a felony to carry concealed no matter what your level of training, so I suppose we can chalk this up as a win for the good guys.

It's an imperfect world, and the CCW law is proof of that. Various conditions were included to keep certain groups from objecting to the law, conditions that are pretty silly. Some parts of the law don't spell out the responsibilities that law enforcement officers have towards the public they are supposed to serve. (Just in case you clicked the last link, Joey now has her CCW license so please don't send an angry Email to the sheriff.)

HB347 is an attempt to address some of those conditions. Hearings are being held where people in favor can say their piece. One of the people who stood up to speak was Doug Stanton.

Never heard of him? Most people haven't. He only read one page during the hearing and I hear it was spellbinding. But that's to be expected considering what he's been through.

Click on that last link and read what happened. You might want to print it out and keep a copy handy the next time someone says that guns only take lives instead of save them.
