Californians Should Look At This

Via this thread at The High Road I found something interesting. There are some folks in Cali who are trying to get constitutional recognition of the Right to Arms. & no less than strict scrutiny review from the courts! lol Course I'd make some arguments about the exceptions they list, but for now let's just see what happens.

They need volunteers. Once the clock starts ticking they only have so many months to get over 700,000 signatures. & that's just to get it on the ballot.

Again I don't think it's perfect but for Cali...well, let's just say it'd not make things worse if it passed. lol

So for all you folks who stay in Cali & say the gun laws are bad but you're trying to improve them, this is a way to attempt some progress. At least hit the links & see what this is all about. & any feedback on the project - especially from those who volunteer - will be welcome here.

I'd be worried about one thing. In California, when partisans of one side start submitting ballot initiatives, partisans from the other side will get the signatures to bring up the opposite measure.

So you could very easily see one ballot measure demanding strict scrutiny of RKBA, and one ballot measure constitutionally banning "assault weapons", or finally banning concealed carry.

Sometimes it's not smart to poke the beast, especially when (in CA) you don't know which hand it will bite.

Either way, I wish them luck, even though I don't live there any more or own firearms...
