Another Field Report

I went to another shooting range in Boulder County in a National Forest. No signs were posted other than prohibiting vehicles. Nice area; much cleaner than Left Hand Canyon. This one was wets of Lyons, Colorado around St. Vrain's Canyon.

I'm running out of places to check. It looks like the range in Nederland is the only one closed in Boulder County at the moment. There could be others that are closed but I simply do not know where they are or if they do exist.

There have been efforts to close down public land to shooting & at least some USDA Forest Service Rangers have been involved. It bears watching, but at the moment it seems that the range in Nederland is the only one closed.

Now don't get me wrong; the closing of the Nederland range should be looked into & scrutinized very carefully. We need every place we can get (or keep in this case) in order to practice our marksmanship. But this doesn't seem like the widespread shudown that was first reported.

As an aside bloggers are supposed to just sit on their tails (in PJ's or out) & write about what other people report. So somebody please tell me why I went & drove 150 miles (roughly) to check this stuff out? Why didn't I hire a field correspondent or two? :)
