Jeff at Alphecca has been keeping an eye on the various legislative gun issues that are in the news. One of them is taking place in my home state of Ohio.
First up is this post, where Jeff talks about a proposed law up in front of the Ohio Senate. The bill would allow licensed CCW holders to carry their guns on university campuses, day care centers and churches. Carrying a gun at any of those places is currently a felony. (Except in the case of a church, where it's allowed if the CCW holder first receives explicit permission from the pastor.)
There's a lively debate in the comment section. Click on over and let your opinion be known.
Next up is this post, where Jeff points out that the Chicago Sun Times is complaining. It seems that a law aimed at "closing the gun show loophole" has a rider attached to also close down the state's gun registry. The Sun Times is taking the usual stance.
It's no secret that I volunteer my time as an instructor to the Central Ohio Pink Pistols, a group devoted to promoting gun ownership and self defense in the gay community. It's also no secret that the gay community is, for some reason, extremely hostile to the idea of gun ownership. This is very odd considering that gays claim to be in constant danger of harrasment and physical attack.
Jeff comments on a plan by the Stonewall Shooting Sports of Utah to attend the local gay pride rally while armed, even though organizers have banned "all weapons of any kind". I'm interested to see how this turns out.
So there you have it. Check out what Jeff has to offer and leave a comment if you're so inclined. Share the blogging love.
(I've cross posted this item at Hell in a Handbasket.)
