Californication

Triggerfinger has the scoop on the latest gun laws passed in California..

The highlights? A .50 caliber rifle ban, a ammunition registration requirement & a rumored but unconfirmed lock up your safety law.

Want to purchase ammo in Cali? Here's what you'll have to provide:

* Date of transaction
* Name, address, and date of birth of the purchaser
* Driver's license or other ID number, including state of issuance
* Brand, type, and amount of ammunition
* The signature of the customer
* The name of the salesperson
* The right thumbprint of the purchaser

Yeppers. Fingerprints for ammo.

I can understand a person leaving California. I can understand a person not wanting to leave their home state. What I can't understand is a person staying in California that isn't forming a resistance cell as we speak.

Seriously, I am very sympathetic to a person not wanting to leave their home. What I can't understand is a person staying in a place that is falling apart so badly without doing anything about it. Now I'll grant that there are a lot of gun owners in Cali who work overtime trying to stop BS like this, but what of the rest of them?

I have very dear friends in California, some of whom either own guns or would like to own guns. None of them are really passionate about defending their Right to Arms. They're sympathetic & generally favorable to it, but they don't (again to my knowledge) do anything about it.

As a result of apathy California is now devolving to a place where biometric data is required to purchase ammunition. The question I have is will the gun owners leave or try to make some sort of stand?

It's often said that California is a testing ground & if something seems to work there it will likely spread. Smoking bans are a prime example. "Assault weapon" bans are another. If giving a friggin thumbprint to buy ammo is the next trend to come out of California then I say we work a deal with Mexico: California in exchange for - well, let's just let them have California as a gesture of our good will. Happy Cinco De Mayo?

To my friends in Cali, if you're not willing to make a stand for your Rights or your dignity then don't come bitchin' to me when it's all gone. & do expect some un-happy thoughts directed your way if this becomes another Federal law that originated in Cali.
