Clayton Cramer has a post about the new "weapon of choice" for Boston's gangbangers: machetes.
I know some people from Central America & they've all told me that machetes are a common weapon down there. It makes sense as machetes are not that different from the short swords that were used for centuries before that new fangled gun powder altered the methods of attack & defense.
All I can say is that if Boston goes the way of Australlia & passes a sword ban (which would be inclusive of machetes) & that trend catches on & spreads to Denver (or at least Boulder) then I'm gonna be real tempted to go out & buy one of these (the cutlass) or perhaps one of these just to piss off the anti-sword crowd. Of course if you'd choose something different I wouldn't blame you. I understand how a person's taste may lean towards the unsual& I won't berate you for it.
Not that I'd purposefully substitute any bladed weapon for one that spits a projectile powered by hot burning gases, but in the face of a prohibition on a constitutionally protected item (yes, swords & knives are Arms) I'd encourage everyone to grab one or two just to make a statement.
